I boughThe factory stamped hp 915s had the large valves the non hp had the small same head other than that...t a set of newly rebuilt 915 heads off eBay many years back and hadn't gotten around to them until now.
I just measured the exhaust valves and found they are 1.60" !
I thought all 915's were the onetime castings used in the '67 HP 440's and had the 1.74" exhaust valves ?
I guess I'll have my machinist install the bigger valves.
Despite the smaller exhaust valves that came with these heads, are the ports still the better flowing ones ?

Thanks in advance.

The hp stamped 915 heads had the large valves no hp stamp had the small ones, same head otherwise...

All these mopar books and magazines refer to the 915 heads as the high performance head back in in 1967. Of course this leads one to believe there was only one variant with the larger exh. valve.
No one ever mentioned there were 915 heads with the 1.60" valve. These were probably used in land barges with 440 low performance engines.
