Thats an interesting question. Correct ends for what application? The cable pictured above is for a 70-71 383/440 E-body (among others). Between 1955-1975 Chrysler had approximately 150 applications with multiple suppliers for each. If you'll look at the little ring terminal at the top of the photo of the cable I posted, there were 7 suppliers for it alone. So, you'll see some variance on cables on what those look like.
You see anyone of those approved seven could have been used by the cable vendors for their production run. They could have even switched suppliers during a run.
The cables I carry were made by referencing original Chrysler engineering prints and comparing that to production spec's and cross referencing those to original installed cables. NOT service replacement cables. Original installed cables that actually came on the cars. The project took a few years to gather all the data. Many well known names in the hobby, such as judges and restorers, were consulted.
After the data was analyzed, the most common parts seen on the cables were what was made. Basically, an 80/20 rule was used. What came on 80% of the cars based on the info that was gathered - that was the part that was made. In some cases, it was more of a 50/50 rule. In those instances a decision had to be made as to which part to use. Production costs being what they are, only one cable could be produced for any one application. So, some of these may not look like your original, but they have the correct ends based on what was coming from Chrysler for that application that year.
Another point I want to stress is that these cables use the correct gauge wire and insulation type as per the Chrysler engineering specs. Many of the other cables out there use commonly available PVC wire which is wrong. The primary differences being insulation properties and appearance. Was the original cable thin, standard, or heavy wall insulation type vs. what's currently available in the PVC type. The cables I sell use the correct Chrysler cable insulation per the original standard.
