Well, my old white whale finally made it to a points race this weekend at Woodburn Dragstrip.

Camastomcat flew all the way out from Salt lake City just to watch me race (maybe not the only reason ).

We got a lot of hits and everything seemed to be going OK. We run Super Gas and were pretty much all over the number. Four .90s and number 2 in the field with a 9.901 first hit Friday morning. (That's the good)

I had all my tranny guts put in a new case last week and a couple little trick mods didn't get done. That, along with the 80 lbs. or so that got added to the car (35 from the B1 heads and 10 from an alternator, all on the front ) and about 30 in the trunk with bigger batteries, and now I can't hit a 00 light to save my life (That's the bad)

Now here's where Tom (camastomcat) comes in

Tom, remember telling me I need to get rid of that valley cover? Well, I got back to my pit after the quarter's and pulled the hood like always to help the motor cool (they were hot lapping us at that point). Big old (UGLY) puddle of oil on top of the valley cover! Looks like the crankcase pressure pushed the sealer right out between the cover and cylinder head.

Guess you told me so! Maybe I'll need that pump after all??

They'd already called all winners back to the lanes so we only had about 5 minutes to clean it up and try to do a Bandaid fix. Went back up and did a real easy burn out but that didn't help. Probably a good thing I got whooped on the tree (big surprise ). There was no way I was gonna run the final. Figured if I got past the semi I'd just go up and stage for the final and hope for a red in the other lane, then shut it off if the other guy went green.

So, folks, that was my Good - Bad -Ugly first Division point race for this year. Can't complain too much about makin' it to the final 3 cars, all things considered.

BTW, my Ford buddy, Ken Heard was the one to take me out in the semi's.

I took him out of the Jegs All Star points running by one round last year after we both towed 950 miles to the points race in Billings Montana so I guess I owed him one.
