Then turbocharge and beat the other guys. Like any other engine, keep it out of detonation. A turbo motor is less violent than a nitrous motor. It will live much longer.
It's not that hard to build. A moderate engine with sufficient boost will make serious power. You need to think about air flow. It needs to get in and out as easily as possible, just like any other engine. A fairly mild cam will work fine and require less exotic valvetrain.
