i'v been playing with that same calculator to figure pump gas use. its said that if you keep your dynamic compression under 9:1 your safe on pump gas, but is that with a cast iron head or an aluminum head? anyone know?

My aluminum headed small block is 9.7 dynamic and 11.4 static and runs fine on pump on street & strip. I did a lot of smoothing ridges off pistons & combustion chambers while assembling it. I think another question in the equation is quench. I have mine set at .039. Tight quench makes a lot of difference in detonation resistance. Just my
