You can use Brian's drop in solid roller lifters very easily in a R3 block if you grind off the remnants of the 6th bolt boss at the top of the lifter valley. The lifters will drop right in. 4.5" angle grinder and 2 or 3 hours work in the driveway will do it.

This is a 48 deg block but I ground off those bolt bosses without any problem.
