The more inline you can mount the driveline the better ie: crank,tranny out put shaft and pinion centerline,keeping the u-joints well within their working ranges.Ideally if everything was inline but since some rearend pinion centers are lower than the crank and tranny centerline and some higher(depending on the ride height) you must make the adjustments.Even if you build the drivetrain inline the moment you change the ride height or instant center you have to re-adjust pinion angle.
