UPDATE: the kit came in and the local shop went over the balance job. All the pistons were off a gram or two. Some, but not all, rods needed some grinding to get them balanced. The crank was off 6 grams on one end and 15 grams on the other. Bearing clearances were "beautiful" according to the shop. Only problem was there was a small flaw in the number 1/2 rod journal. It was a "dent" about 1/2" long, 1/16" wide, about .005" deep and perpendicular to the crank center line. It was very smooth and polished but you could see and feel the flaw. Local shop said it would not cause a problem but recommended it be returned for a replacement. So waiting on that now.

I wouldn't buy a balanced kit from them again. I'd buy it unbalanced and have a good local shop do it right. A guy over on abodyjoe.com site had his "balanced" Scat kit's pistons off by a few grams. And he is complaining to Scat and they don't want to do anything about it. The balancing dept. told him "what do you expect for $150?"

So don't waste your money on the balance job from Scat. They don't do it right and when its off and you complain they won't do anything for you.
