One other explanation is that the torque peak is a false reading. The operator might not have loaded the motor enough in the lower rpm range to get the full torque curve. Now that I've looked at the print out more I'm starting to suspect that was the case. Usually on this dyno it takes a few pulls for the operator to get used to how a new motor takes the load. Since the pushrod problem showed up we stopped making pulls before we had gotten one that felt really good.

Update on the pushrod oiling issue: I talked to Russ at Indy and he says that I was supposed to remove the oil line restrictor in the valve covers for break in. After everything is broken in then you put the restrictor back in the line. I guess that makes sense but without any instructions it was something that I figured out on my own.
