a soap and water solution will work for the stripe plus it makes it slippery if you have to slide it around, Then take a bondo applicator and wrap it with a soft cloth to push out the excess water and bubbles. Take your time and don't rush it. The guy that did my brothers stripe ruined it, full of bubbles. He put it on soon after the car was painted which will trap gasses in the paint and cause bubbles as well.
