John Minnich, 57, of Wellington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 30, 2009 at MetroHealth in Cleveland. Born on Sept. 2, 1951 in Elyria, John was a 1969 graduate of Midview High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1970 and proudly served his country until 1974.
Last June, he retired from General Motors after 31 years. John was a member of the Wellington Eagles and a former member of the Elyria Elks Club. An avid bowler, John was the Secretary for the Wellington Bowling Association and his family owns Strike Out Lanes in Wellington. He also loved drag racing at Summit Motor Sports in Norwalk. A true people person, spending time with family and friends was important to John. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed teasing people.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Pamela; daughters, Angelique (Timothy) Gallion of Wellington and Monique (Michael) Carroll of Olmsted Falls; two granddaughters, 5 year old Mallory and 2 year old Alexa and John was proudly awaiting the birth of another grandchild. He is also survived by his mother, Mary (nee Fox) Minnich; brothers, James (Nina) Minnich of Mt. Vernon, Tom (Loretta) Minnich of Versailles, KY, Ken (Rose) Minnich of Elyria, Kevin (Karen) Minnich of LaGrange; his twin sister, Judy (Mark) Selee of North Ridgeville and sister, Heather (Russ) Simmons of Wellington and several loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Minnich.

Friends will be received on Thursday, September 3, from 6-9 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 S. Main St., Wellington, where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington.
