I don't think a "stock" steel '68/'69 hood would fit with the air cleaner on.

The Edlebrock "hi-rise" manifold and 3x2 carb set-up would require a "bludge" in the middle of the hood. That's why the '70 B-body stock steel hoods were higher in the center.

The tall 3x2 intake system was another reason for the “one-off” unique items on the first A12 cars. It was almost, as folklore has it, a rush to market with the ’69 ½ B-body cars. An Aluminum aftermarket intake manifold, an aftermarket “OPEN SCOOP” fiberglass hood with no hinges, a lot of the accessories deleted from the pick list, a 4:10 Dana, steel wheels only.

Mr. (name withheld out of respect) at the W. P. Chrysler Museum told me, with a little bit of distain in his voice; “You never knew what those guys (referring to the engineers/Ramchargers) were going to try to slide by upper management, I mean most of that stuff was done (ideas drawn up) on the backs of envelopes and dinner napkins! There were no real records or test data support, just their wild ideas.”

Yeah! That’s what I like to hear, good old American “We can do that, who says we can’t, give me that napkin and I’ll show you how we’ll get this thing to fly!”

He also said “They did things that never should have been done, like putting a Hemi into an E-body. They had to make the suspension so stiff it would jar your fillings loose. I used to have to bring cars back from the proving grounds and I always knew when my boss was a little upset with me because he’d make me drive one of those cars (referring to the Hemi’s, Six-Packs, etc.,)”.

He continued on with (I guess I struck a nerve) “With that stiff suspension and too much power you could never drive them very far and you never wanted to have to drive them in the rain.” I laughed and said, “Well you know “Those” cars really gave Chrysler a huge reputation that lives on to this day and I guess they’ve come full circle because most owners now “Don’t drive them very far and they only get driven on the weekend and never when it’s raining.” He didn’t think that was all that funny or enlightening.

Oh yeah, the hood, I don't think a steel hood would fit unless you modified the airfilter or pitched it away.
