OR an eternally balanced toque converter, which is how the factory did it. Be advised, Magnum 5.9's are also eternally balanced, but the amount is different than the LA 360.

As for the motor mount bracket, the 318 bracket is 1/2" wider than the 360 one, a spacer (1/2" nut) fixes that.




You missed the part where he said he had a 4 speed. He also stated he has a 7 1/4 rear end as well.

He would need a 360 balanced flywheel of the same diameter he currently has. Between the oil pan, the flywheel, and the 7 1/4, he has several reasons to be sure the "new" motor is a 318 and not a 360, and he has a pretty good reason to be sure it is not the Magnum 5.2 or 5.9 motor either.
