I just picked up a Blue Yeti (Logitech) microphone to help up my audio game. The best setup is a arm with shock mount and then the mic and a pop filter. Usually people run things through an application called 'Audacity'. And I have used it in the past, but I upgraded my video program DaVinci Resolve to the premium version and it has pretty good audio stuff built in.

The Blue Yeti is a good mic for a reasonable cost and will give you pretty good results. I know a few podcasters that used it starting out, or still use it.
