With an auto you should be OK without a snubber, the 4 speed cars used tthem. I sort of made my own short one just as a safety issue. Been running SS springs for 50 years, still do. Wound up messing with clamps on the front segment, two on the right, one on the left. Hooks hard and goes down through there like a New Yorker.
