May dad's (now mine) was always called the railroad bar, probably because the crew working on the tracks next to his shop left it out one night... Back when he ran demolition derbies all summer, it was one of the most useful tools between heats and to get the residue loaded on the trailer at the end of the night. A piece of wooden guardrail post 12" long with a small notch cut in one corner is a handy accessory to go with it.
