Having had several '71 GTXs, I was always surprised that they had the heavy duty suspension and torque boxes but only an open rear standard. Must have been a way to get a couple more bucks for the SG option while keeping the base sticker price as low as possible.

Just seems weird for muscle cars to be peg legs especially given the fact that they were so traction compromised to begin with. Did the other manufacturers do the same thing?
