Can the STR be ported to max wedge? [/quote] Not the entire length of all the runners twocents
I would look at Indy Cylinder Heads and see if they make a low deck motor M.W. base with a removable top scope If so buy their cross ram top and have some fun up wrench
BTW, one of the first multiple carb motors I built for someone else was a early 383 with iron heads that we had bigger valves put in them with stock intake and exhaust port sizes with a low deck STR manifold with the original crossram top with two Holley 600 or maybe 650 CFM D.P. carbs, Isky 505T solid roller cam with a stock early 1962 727 trans and converter, that combination was a dead dog under 3500 RPM and then it turned into a real monster shock
The owner had agreed to using a good BM O69J converter and a lot of other good drag race parts at the start of the build and then renege when it came time to buy the other good parts rant pukewhiney
I had that happen more than once since then also shruggy
