Just wondering how many of these kind of places are left? I used to have a small local shop near the town where I grew-up in the Detroit area, but they are long gone. I was on a business trip last week & we visited Roberts & Son Auto & Truck Parts - Garfield, NJ. We were talking to the purchasing director, & the owner - Bob, came & joined in on our meeting. This guy is in his early 70's & just an energetic, very enthusiastic kind of guy - he LOVES what he does - the guy has such a great personality - I instantly liked him. This is a very large operation, & rebuilding anything electrical is one of their specialties, plus they sell new auto & truck parts - they have a GREAT showroom with lots of unique stuff. Him & I immediately hit it off as we started talking cars, he insisted to take me on the grand tour of the place. Not only does he have quite a lot of old NOS stuff, but they have tons of old cores - starters & alternators. He showed me the rebuild area & said he has a few guys that have been with him for over 30 years & they are the "best rebuilders in the business." They fully disassemble, bead blast, & do all new windings, install new brushes, etc. The finished products look absolutely brand-new. He explained it's a lost art.

So I don't know who y'all use, but this place is a real throwback from a lost era - it was so fun to discover them & visit. He was pawing through a little box on one of the hundreds of shelves back in the warehouse, & gave me an NOS ballast resistor for one of my Cudas. So many guys have been talking lately about how modern-day parts like this are just absolute junk - made-in-China stuff, that either does not work right out of the box, or only lasts a year or two. Voltage regulators, switches, etc. You may want to give these guys a shout: (877) 772-3232. Web: https://www.robertsandson.com/about-us

I'm just spreading the word - this place is a treasure trove - it can benefit all of us.
