If you're doing a standard solid white base, like an OE style work truck kind of a color, all you do is decide what pearl color appeals to you, mix the pearl additive (a powder) to
what is commonly referred to as an intercoat clear, or "clear base" in the amount that looks good to you, shoot the base, observe proper flash time per tds, shoot the pearl, again observe proper flash per tds, then after the pearl
is sprayed and flashed off properly you shoot your regular clear.

There are many different kinds and colors of pearl, there are color flop types, you can add some flake, the options are endless.

Base
Pearl
Clear
sometimes called Tri coat.

I have never personally shot it, but I believe there is very little room for error.
if something messes up and you have to sand it off, it's going to create issues.

Per original poster/not mine, here is a blue pearl example/not mine
per original poster " this is PPG Tri coat system/ the original W1 White with PPG VM4604 Blue Murano in PPG DBC500 as the inter coat clear."

There is alot out there and it can be a rabbit hole. A small amount of flake has a very nice look over white and just appears to be
something special without going full bore bass boat (which is also cool).

this assumes you want custom paint, though.

If you want OEM pearl instead, you can always just buy the 2009 cadillac system,
whatever was used, and duplicate that.
