My #8 intake cam lobe is shot on my 2010 Dodge Ram 1500. This truck has about 180,000 miles on it. It has been fairly well taken care of with oil changes etc and Amsoil synthetic lube everywhere. It ends up going skiing a lot so the extended idle in the parking lots to stay warm or warm up probably helped to it's demise. The cheapest fix will be to replace the cam and lifters only. It looks like new crate motors are out of stock. Is this a fools errand, due to all the grit in the engine, plus the fairly high mileage on the engine already?
