i use the carter 6903 almost exclusively. gotten many years of service from one pump. i don't think the 2 valve stock replacement pumps are made domestically anymore so who knows what materials are in them. you may be getting those 3-5lb pumps that were questionable 50yrs ago. try a pressure test, fuel pump push rod length check, and make sure all hose connections are good and secured before buying another pump.
