Looking to add an air cleaner to my car. It's a Duster with a 440. Using a Victor 440 intake with a 1" spacer (adjustable resistor plate to use for index class racing). Car was built almost 30 years ago and has a snorkel style hood scoop. The hood has a decent size hole, but I'm limited to about a 9" diameter and 3 1/2-4" tall air cleaner. Engine is a stock stroke 440 and I shift at 6,000, trap around 63-6400. I don't want to choke the engine down, but worried that a 3-3 1/2" air filter element might be to small with the 9" diameter. How small of an air filter have you guys used on your combos that haven't effected the overall performance?
