I have found that Pig mat and brake clean also do a pretty good job on residual stains. Paper towels also work well with the brake clean but you will use more of them than the pigmat.
If using the brake clean the Advance auto parts house brand (wearever) has very little odor

Spray enough to wet a smaller area well, put the mat or towels down (towels should be folded) and step on them. This will compress them and pull the brake clean/ oil in to the absorbent. You can usually flip the paper towel a few times and reuse it. Once its saturated, get another.
