IIRC, I remember reading early chrysler tech bulletins (1978-2005) about over center springs on later model front wheel drive cars. One of the issues was noise caused when the spring softened over time. As i understood it, it helps with both fully depressed pedal and foot off pedal the same.
Please dont rely on my wonderful memory, I dont either.
