Absolutely.
Cats are definitely far more intelligent than dogs.
They are inquisitive, they will figure out how things work on their own, dogs have to be shown and trained how to do things.
We own both and the cats are far smarter than the dogs.

I've had several cats that loved to fetch their jingly ball.
They would bring the ball back from where ever you threw it in the house and drop it at your feet waiting for you to throw it again.

I think that some people hate them because they are smarter than their owners.
