I heard the Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell say that he was next going to sing his sister Kathleen’s favorite song:
“Second Fiddle”.

I was so impressed with O’Donnell’s version of the song that I googled the songwriter and was a little stunned to read that it was Buck Owens’ first song to break into the radio charts in 1959. I thought I had heard every Buck Owens song.

I also learned that as a little boy Alvis Edgar Owens Jr was never called that, but that the family had a stubborn donkey they called “Buck”.
