is part of what confuses people to what you want since it looks like the sex bolt isn't designed to be flush where a flat socket head bolt IS designed to be flush.
Yes, you could make the sex bolt flush, but it doesn't look like it has a tapered seat under the head.
They are available in button head and tapered seat from most sources. The problem is finding a larger diameter, in a grade 8 steel.
It may not be available, and if that is the case I will look into other means of fastening the lift gate side posts to the trailers.
