Truth be told, my friend figured it out. I showed him the pic and he replied:

After looking at the pic I decided it is not a Buick as the belt line trim strip breaks for the upper door hinge on the Buick. Could be 37 Olds or LaSalle, on which trim continues unbroken above the hinge. Not ‘38 Olds and LaSalle, as they do have the break (Pontiac and Cadillac do not have trim here; Chevy is a different body).
