Do the ram pick-ups have this problem also? I own an 05 Daytona and if it should have the intake gaskets replaced,I'll do them.Thanks.
I think that it's mainly a Durango issue since how the water drains off the cowl is one of the reason it happens.
Half the engine is under the cowl on a Durango.
But as Dave has said,
We have started pushing all of our customers with those to do intake gaskets every 100,000 as a simple preventative maintenance. I have seen a ton of those and the story about starting it after rain is pretty much universal and the only way water gets in the cylinders is through flattened intake gaskets.
I think that the intake gaskets/seals should be replaced every so often to avoid the possibility of it happening.
IMO They flatten out and quit sealing properly with time.
On a side note, I got the replacement engine in the Durango fired up last week and it's licensed and being driven now.
