a 94 jeep Cherokee xj shares the same 43" perch centers as does the trucks. IIRC it is the 10bolt 8 1/4

A-body 8 3/4 share the 43" perch centers and with large brake offset axle bolt right in on top of springs and will tuck a 12" rim 29x15x15 M/T in the fenders.

73-74 C-body 8 3/4 is same width as 72-93 truck housings and only needs perch moved.

72-74 4x4 truck same width & FYI** came with the large 5 on 5 wbs same as 85-93 trucks

(my 85 stepside with 74 W100 8 3/4 ran the 10"-4.5 BS rim 29x9.50x15 and was tight but just right at outer fender lip.

myself I tub the bed flush to frame rails, flip the shackle and mount axle on top of springs. gives a better street/drag truck stance, no wheel hop, handles much better, still haul a 440/727 in the back with out hitting the frame rails.

my 88 440 truck has a-body 8 3/4 12"-4.5" BS rim 29 x15x15 M/Ts tucked in the fenders.

my 85 stepside shackle flip/tubbs has a 67 C-body 8 3/4 = same as E-body 8 3/4 only had to move perches in 1.5" each side and tucks a 10"- 4.5 BS rim with a 29x9.50x15 mud tire. with plenty of room to fender lips. looks like the 12" M/T combo will fit

I did the measuring on the jeep xj 8 1/4 and it will bolt right under a truck and will tuck 10" rims easy maybe a set of 12" rims

I did install a 8.8 with 3.73 gears with disc brakes in a 68 dart. other than the conversion joint needed and some fab/welding work it fit and work ok for that customer.

jeep axle less work IMHO.
