Had a fresh 727 tranny with about 10000 miles behind a cast crank 400 (external balance). We upgraded to a fresh steel crank balanced 440 with Holley Sniper and changed convertor to stock internal balance part. We dropped the tranny pan and found clean fluid and pan. Did not even change the filter. But the new setup has sluggish 1/2 shift and a small flare up and 2/3 shift. We know we have a solid trans SO it has to be:

Kickdown linkage which controls pressure, I would think the linkage from 400 to 440 are different. I have the 440 on the car and may pull to check against the one off the 400. One has the adjustment at the bottom with a jam bolt in a block with a spring. The other is fixed on bottom and has a slotted rod up at carb linkage. HodgePodge of parts. The changes are 400 to 440, Tquad to Sniper, the convertor which looked new and of course we now have more power. I read we need 1 to 1 ratio on this kickdown deal. Should I just go with an aftermarket cable setup?
76 Cordoba 400 and now a 73 New Yorker 440 with a Holley Sniper on a 74 727??????? I need a vacation! Can not dyno tune until I get this tranny back like it was.

What is the correct kick down lever setting on a stock 440? Thanks Stephen

CALMED THE QUAKE!!!(AGAIN!)
