I use a tranny yoke on the output shaft and mark it and the tail shaft housing, and then mark the input shaft and the front bearing retainer so I can put the shift levers in each gear and then rotate the input shafts enough revolutions while counting to make the tranny yoke make one full revolution. All the O.D. NP833 tranny have a 3.09 first gear with right at .64 O.D. ,O.D. It is where 3rd gear is on the non O.D. tranny so to shift into O.D. you need to move the front (closes to the motor)shift lever towards the rear of the tranny scope Moving it forward should put it into direct gear, one for one revolutions scopewrench
