Assumption was the first drag strip i've ever been to. A few years ago there was serious talk about some sort of reunion being held there, but the property owner eventually backed out because of insurance/liability.

I've never been to the Sangamon County Drag, which was located near Springfield, but I do have this neat old trophy.
The plaque reads "First - Winner - 1960"
No name has been engraved on the plate.
