Neither...

People spend thousands of dollars on an engine combo. When it comes time to buy the MOST important piece of the puzzle in an auto trans car, they look for the cheapest way out on a converter.

Spend the money on a good converter that flashes hard and is still tight on cruise. A good converter shop can build one and will run from 500-850.

I know plenty of people that put one of the shelf units in a car. They replaced it with a custom ones, with a higher flash, and it ran LOWER rpm at highway speeds. Go figure. It's done all the time now. GOOD Higher stall stuff runs without the 70's stepping on a marshmellow sloppy feel.
