So the low/rev band comes off slowly. Why is that any different than 2/3 overlap? I've seen the rear wheels stop on the hoist on a low rpm 2/3 shift. I've never witnessed that with a standard valve body on a manual 1/2 shift. If there is overlap, it can't be much. Am I missing something here? Commenting on the other post; Which thrust washers? How did you determine that on/off the throttle caused any wear? 2/3 overlap is the opposite of 2/3 flare. You would have to have a heck a lot of overlap to kill the high gear clutch pack causing a 2/3 flare.
