Sorry if this is rehashing old information. I poked around with the search function and found some stuff, but not everything I need.

I have a D60 at the axle shop now getting prepped and it's going to get disc brakes. The shop quoted a price of $475 for a kit; which doesn't seem bad at all, but I think I could get by significantly cheaper if I source the parts myself going with the Ford Explorer rear disc swap. There is a large self service junk yard near by, so getting the brackets should not be an issue. Rotors and calipers would be purchased brand new from a parts store.

Would there be much savings doing this myself, or should I just get the kit? If I do decide to source the parts myself, what year Explorers should I be looking at for caliper brackets?
