Cab, you've been racing almost as long as I've been alive so I will defer to your experience whistling
But isn't that a lot of seat pressure for a flat-tappet, at least when considering long-term wear? I seem to recall reading that lobe (or lifter) wear starts to become a problem at about 150# work

Have you ever seen or heard of a cam that wore the heel off from to much spring pressure? grin I haven't work You don't want the lifter to loose contact with the lobes as it closes, or jump around when the lobe starts to open the valves, correct work up
What I have learned is if you don't try something different to go faster or make parts last longer you won't learn or get better or worst whistling
AKA aside, there are many myths in our industry that get repeated over and over, they are not all correct shruggy
