If the the cam spins nice by hand the bearings aren't the issue in my opinion. I've seen some pretty bad cam bearings that were running fine.

Every Chevy LS engine eats cam bearing like crazy and I never heard of noise issues


I have heard when working on an LS to never look at the cam bearings, if you do they will be bad lol.
