Fred, part of what gets me upset is that most of these classes are just TOO specific on what the car must have UNDER the sheetmetal.
The spectators who will make or break any attempt at this don`t care what dia. tube is in the rollbar.
IF a car has the Look" and the "cook" whats not to like?
I`m right with you on the index thing, otherwise there will be so much E.T. range that again the spectators will lose interest.
Maybe something along the lines of PINKS?
You make qulifying runs, must be within a certain percentage. So at one event theres 16 cars running between 9.70 and 9.90 thats the class today, those outside are bumped to a Comp/or OUTLAW class. And run off against each other.
I think the index would keep things from getting out of hand. Give some guys an opportunity to go fast and they eat your lunch. I for one could not afford to keep up with a ever changing performance standard.
