Of course they aren't "new." They're just now at the point that they can work for a lot more people.

Even powered by coal, they're cleaner/more efficient than gas. It also moves the pollution out of populated areas.

And while the batteries can be thrown out that would be dumb. Recycling makes a lot more sense.

As for the OP, buy an EV to help push the transition.
