no I'm pretty sure that number will match a number stamped on the stem of the pinion , pick that broken looking section and maybe you will be able to see it .

what concerns me is the part number on that gear , thats way to early a number to be a 489 gear ... I think ... I have a 3.55 gear set down stairs I can look at .




Just looked at the gears , the MS # ??? it's not on the pinion stem . The date is there as Dr. diff says , its after the MS number , I see a 2 and then a 1 . the part number is correct , I forgot the ring gear doesn't care what housing it is in , it's the same ring gear they have been making since they started making 3.55's for 8 3/4 rears .

Oh wait , I'm not dr. diff and it appears he is the ONLY person ON the planet that knows ANYTHING about the 8 3/4 rear ... my bad .
