thanks guys . funny I tried a 9x30 (29.9) hoosier radial and it fitted , did this a couple of years ago - I think on the 8 1/2"rim . Maybe the narrower tyre was the saving grace .
Oh well , I guess either a spacer or I will go the dodge hanger .

my tire was a 29.5x10.5 15" rim 5 on 5 offset but that would be too close for most of you so the 9" will be fine[just touched].I used a 9x30 without the axle moved back at 7k rpm 150 mph on the dyno 3.73 gear.The 9" barely touched so a 1/2" spacer would be fine on the leaf spring.
