That small piece is definitely distorting the bearing fitment. See if you can knock it back flush. If so, and it is captured by the main cap, bearing shell and can't fall back into the bolt hole or go anywhere. You can run it with no migration or bearing distortion issues with a very high probability that it will be like that when you pull it apart for the next rebuild.
