Never heard of a 501 small block. I would love to see that article!
Otherwise, IIRC, 472-ish is about it. You can grab a CID calf and enter the biggest bore and stroke combo you know of. Iggest bore I heard of is a 4.22 and stroke being 4.25. If there is bigger, I haven't heard/read it yet. Just did a quick search and found this. The 501" was a R3 Block that was CNC lightened and I believe had a 4.5" stroke Bryant crankshaft.
