So its possible they would have had an A31 car without a sure grip or is that the giveaway that the pumpkin has been changed ?
Pumpkin changed, A31 B body would have had a 489 case, A31 includes SUREGRIP so no it is not possible to have one unless the factory installed the wrong chuck in the housing.
What is the date stamped on the ring gear , an A100 I think could be had with a 3.91 with no sure grip and a 741 case.
I have a 3.91 SG 741 in my stash that I took out of an A100 van.

When you replied to him on another post about "
thinking" an open 3.91/741 was available in an A100, I read that to mean
specifically/only in an A100 and only as a non SG which in hindsight is not what you said.
I replied to confirm that a 3.91SG was in fact available in a 741 case and was also, as such, available in an A100.
