when they screwed them on they lightly bent themselves to clear the top.
just lightly bend the molding to fit tighter and you should be fine.

the motor auto body crash book i have printed in 1981 shows no different moldings for V-top.






I would tend to agree with this statement, while I know the B bodies had vinyl/non vinyl mlds, as far E bodies, I've deleted vinyl tops or added them to E's over the decades and never had any issues with the mldgs, when I've deleted vinyl's on B bodyies, or any car that I felt the drip rails were "loose" on the gutter, I just tighten them up by using a rubber mallet and or wooden block to tighten/shrink the vertical profile of the mldg so it was tighter on the gutter edge
