Please tell me this has to do with making Challenger Rubber Bumpers!
They use the chrome bumper cores to make the rubber bumpers.
When the original cores became harder to come up with in decent condition that's what Gene Gregory did.
When I got a front from Gene I had to supply a core perfect bumper.
I still have my original front but it's got a twist in it
Gene preferred factory original Mopar cores.
At one point when I was at his shop he had some repro bumpers that he was going to use because he couldn't find any decent straight cores to use.
He also had a pile of what he considered junk cores, twisted or tweaked in such a way he wouldn't use them.
