That's exactly what I did. Took the sticker off a new Voltage regulator and stamped it. Worked great.
Practice a few times before you do stamp it so you get the look right. Different inks and paints all stamp a little different. Inks work a little better (maybe because it thinker), but paint works fine too. Have a little clean rag and some lacquer thinner close by in case you mess up and need to wipe it off.
