what about sliding the terminal/wire back out of the boot then opening the crimp a bit then cutting the wire leaving a core pigtail & folding it under the terminal and recrimping. easy to do & some lube on the insulation helps greatly with this when reinstalling & most wire crimpers have a pair of notch halves sized just for crimping these terminals



Yep, this is what I do, too. And it helps to have some spare wires (old or new) so that you can use the mix of straights and 90*s on the cap ends that works the best.
